Window treatments that beat the heat

Inspired by an unusually hot week in Southern California, I wanted to introduce you to 2 products I like to use as shade options. One is what is called a Solar Shade and the other is a Grass Shade . They can both be motorized on an incredibly quiet motorization system of which you will never hear operate.

These shades (or even drapery) are automated window treatments that operate at the touch of a button from a wall-mounted keypad or a handheld remote. Press “open” or “raise” to open the window treatments, or “close” or “lower” to close them. It’s that simple. I love the clean look of the roller shades and the texture of the grass shades.  They come in so many color options that one will certainly fix your heat or privacy problem.  I have the grass shade extremely well in both traditional and contemporary interior design projects.  The solar shades are an excellent choice for the beach and west facing windows.  I use a timer on these when doing interior design projects in Manhattan Beach and the clients are away at work but want to protect their interior during the day when the sun drops at a set hour.

Another facet I like about the grass shades is the fact that it is a nice balance of privacy but also you feel the exterior.  Here is another example in a Pool Cabana recently installed using Grass Shades.
