I wanted to cover a little bit on outdoor furniture and the way we live in Southern California. While resourcing and designing for a client’s outdoor area I came across some cool finds. We find ourselves providing Interior Design for clients living in Rancho Palos Verdes, Rolling Hills, Palos Verdes Estates, Hermosa Beach, and Manhattan Beach where outdoor living spaces our prime.

I love the way these chairs are playful and don’t take themselves too seriously. This would be great on a deck facing the boardwalk for some prime time People watching from Manhattan Beach to Venice Beach. They have a deep Marine Paint imbedded in the finish to deter the elements.
I love this table top and want to use it for a Dining Room Top or a Cocktail Table. It helps break up the finishes of the pieces and is very eclectic. I will custom this also if clients want round or even a specific tile they have always loved. The other nice thing is that no one really knows how much dirt is on this because it always looks fresh and clean, unlike glass!
I love these cocktail tables from Kravet. Great color on the slate tops and again a bit more eclectic in nature. I Have a few more spaces I have completed check it out.

I like this style, nice and clean. But more than anything I think the 4 lounge chairs around a table offer a great option to another table and chairs. I see this working very well in front of an outdoor fireplace or fire pit vs. the traditional sofa and chairs. Summer hors d’oeuvres and cocktails prevail in this arrangement

Although a bit more serious, I wanted to point out that the mixing of styles and finishes is the way we achieve success in the final design. This is from Kravet and the wood products holds up well as it is still looking good after I have this installed in an Ocean Front Estate going on 2 years. Why not host your next dinner party out doors? If you need help, give me a call!
Kravet Soleil fabrics, made from a blend of the manufacturer’s own and Sunbrella acrylic yarns, can be left out all day to bask in the sun. They’ll resist fading, rot, and mildew. Spray these guys down and you are ready to go! I also use this type of fabric for Nook Chairs as they are great with Kids sticky, jellied hands.

To Sling or not to Sling? Another option you have is to go with a mesh sling style of seating which is also very comfortable and a little easier to care for. I have enclosed 2 pictures profiling this type of design and I have used this in both contemporary and traditional homes. I believe this choice is driven by individual comfort.

I am specifying this in a current project that the clients’ style is “Clean and Tailored”. Our color scheme from Kravet Soleil http://www.kravet.com/htmlPages/fabric_collections_htm/kravetsoleil.htm fabrics is Butter Yellow, Toast and Cinnamon (are you hungry for breakfast yet?)
In case you are curious I have enclosed the color scheme that we will be using with some traditional TEAK furniture.

Enjoy, buy quality and have a great time outdoors!

Those colorful chairs would be perfect for the East Coast too. I can definitely imagine them up on the Cape.
Wonderful post, and I was working on a similar article which I will probably still write, but from a slightly different angle. Thanks for sharing this with your readers…I’m sure I’m not the only one who appreciates it.
