Manhattan Beach Cottage Style

image001Coral is a color that is pretty specific but I really like the impact it makes on a room.  The fresh painted wainscoting on the back wall with the contrasted textured wall covering, I find very pleasing to the eye.  As a family man with 3 kids under 4 years of age, I have to laugh at the thought of them tearing through a room like this with my wife in hot pursuit with a dust buster and wipes!  Would I do a room like this in my house – YOU BET!   But to be honest it might be a guest room so that it would not be subjected to Thomas the Trains, Princess action figures and my 10 month’s grabbing pretty things off tables.

So reality must be considered, but don’t be so quick to dismiss a lighter color scheme like this with kids.  Location and materials used can overcome objections if well thought out.

image0021Great accent pillow!  If you like white but are practical, remember Sunbrella washable fabrics, leather or a high quality vinyl could be used instead of fabric

image0031Hate to match, but I got to give this little guy credit and what it does for the room.

So bottom line, light and airy color schemes for Families can be accomplished.  We just have to think out the materials and fabrics used to cater to the practical side of things.
